Notes from 'How to elevate data literacy at scale' webinar
In early October, Secoda hosted a LinkedIn webinar with Jordan Morrow titled , ‘How to elevate data literacy at scale’, the recording of which is available on LinkedIn. The points which stood out to me during the webinar are below:
data literacy - ability to…
- read
- work with
- analyze, and
-
communicate
… data
process for implementing a data literacy program
- assess current state and identify personas/clusters to target program
- recommendation: 4-5 clusters is probably a good starting place
- build learning plans for those groups based on the type(s) of analytics they need to work with
- set program goals and success metrics
- iterate on the assesment and program plans
- recommendation: iterate not less than quarterly
recommendation: show people how their personal knowledge is a form of data literacy, as a way to overcome resistance. For example, knowing to take one route to work versus another based on what you know about traffic patterns is data driven decision making that shows data literacy.
